I have hesitated to wade into these waters, but I think something needs to be said to provide you a clear, unbending statement of our policies toward reporting in this newspaper.
There is a small group of people in Willow Park who insist on continually questioning our reporting, particularly toward Willow Park.
One such person continues to accuse us of printing lies; she refers to us as the Enquirer and “the local rag” in comments on our Facebook page.
In the past, when she has made such accusations, I have reached out to her to ask what inaccuracies or false statements are in the paper. She would not respond.
I asked again.
She did not respond.
I finally sent her a message, saying “I must insist that you tell me what is not accurate in the newspaper so I can issue a correction.”
No response.
She’s at it again, and again I have asked her to back up her accusations.
As of this writing, it has only been one day, but so far, no answer.
It’s easy for keyboard warriors to sling accusations out there with little or nothing to hold them to the truth. But I’ll say this plainly: Put up or shut up.
I stand behind what we print in this newspaper. When we make a mistake mistake, we will issue a front-page correction.
So if you’re calling my hard-working staff liars, back it up. They work diligently to provide our readers an unmatched venue for news, and they don’t get wealthy doing it.
And if the work we do makes us a “rag,” I’ll wear that title proudly.
