“Our team faced a tough challenge this past Friday, Aug. 14, against Benbrook. Although we came away with a loss in three sets, the match was incredibly close and hard-fought,” Sigala said. “I am very proud of how the team played. They showed great heart and determination on the court throughout the entire game.”
The match could have easily gone in TCA’s favor as each game came down to the wire, with two of the games needing extra points to determine a winner. Benbrook ultimately won 25-22, 26-24, 26-24.
“We had several moments where our execution was sharp, and despite the final result, the team’s performance was a great building block as we continue our season,” Sigala said. “We’re taking the positives from this performance and using them to focus on our next matchup.”
Standouts for the Lady Eagles included outside hitter Paisley James with 14 kills, while middle blocker Kami James delivered nine kills with four blocks and served an ace.
Though they have been swept in their first two matches, three of the games in those matches have needed extra points. TCA dropped its season opener on Aug. 11 at home to Southwest Christian School 25-16, 28-26, 25-11.
The Lady Eagles were hosting Lake Country Christian School at press time and are playing in the Keene Tournament this weekend. They travel to SCS on Aug. 25 for a 6 p.m. match.
