WCS football loses 46-19 to Keller Harvest

After two weeks off due to unforeseen circumstances from their opponents, the Weatherford Christian School Lions lost 46-19 on the road to Keller Harvest Christian on Friday, Oct. 23.

Alex Scheoppner led the team with 72 yards rushing and one touchdown while Ridge Robinson was second with 56 yards and one touchdown. Jack Muhlenkamp completed five passes for 38 yards with Noah Carreon leading the team with 23 yards receiving.

WCS (1-1 in district) heads into the final district game of the season against Crowley Nazarene Christian.

A win would make it a three-way tie with Keller Harvest. A loss would bump the Lions to third place, missing the playoffs since only the top two teams in a district qualify.

“TAPPS has a wildcard workup this year and they will take an extra four teams across the state based on wildcard points on average per game,” WCS coach Colt Jones said. “Right now we are a contender for a potential wildcard draw spot.”

The Lions will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at home.

Lady Lions volleyball loses playoff game

The Weatherford Christian School Lady Lions had their season come to an end Thursday, Oct. 22, in Midland during the first round of the playoffs.

Immanuel Christian School out of El Paso won 3-1 against the Lady Lions.

ICS won a close Set 1, 25-22, but WCS came back and won Set 2, 25-17, to tie the match at 1. From there, the Lady Warriors took over and won Set 3, 25-17, and Set 4, 25-18.

Lady Lion coach Johnathan Foreman did not have much to say days after the defeat.

“El Paso was the better and more disciplined team,” Foreman said. “Our players competed well.”

WCS had to defeat Temple and Nazarene earlier in the week just to qualify for the playoffs.
