Aledo’s Tyler Connelly qualified for the state cross country meet by finishing fourth in the Region I Class 6A cross country meet Monday, Oct. 26, at a muddy Mae Simmons Park.

The Parker County cross country runners dominated the District 3-6A meet last week, with both Aledo teams and both Weatherford teams qualifying for the regional meet. However, only Connelly made it out. He will run in the state meet, scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

Connelly ran the 5,000-meter race in 14 minutes, 57.3 seconds. Ruel Newberry of Denton Guyer won the race in 14:35.5.

The Bearcats finished in sixth place with 182 points. The Ladycats finished in 15th with 378 points.

The Weatherford Kangaroos finished 18th with 464 points, and the Lady Roos finished 11th with 267 points.

Weatherford’s Remi Boone led the Parker County girls’ contingent, running 18:40.70 for 20th place.
