Weatherford ISD students may have just started class but the district has already received a grade.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released the Accountability A-F Ratings for the 2025-26 school year, and WISD has improved to a B, up from a C the past four school years. Districts earn a B for recognized performance when they “serve many students well, encouraging high academic achievement and/or appropriate academic growth for most students,” according to the TEA report.
“The improvement reflects the dedication of WISD students, teachers and staff, as well as the continued support of parents, families and the Weatherford community,” a press release from the district read. “This collective commitment plays an important role in the growth taking place across the district.”
WISD scored 80 out of 100 overall, which is comprised of several categories including student achievement, school progress, and closing the gaps. It measures how much students are learning in each grade and whether they are ready for the next grade. It also shows how well a school or district prepares its students for post-high school success in college, the workforce or in the military.
Scores in each category were 81 in student achievement; 77 in school progress; and 76 in closing the gaps.
“Weatherford ISD is proud of the progress being made across the district and remains focused on the important work ahead,” read the release.
Breaking it down by campus, the report showed Rise Academy earned an A. Several other campuses – Austin Elementary, Martin Elementary, Tison Middle School and Weatherford High School – earned a B, and the other schools, aside from Crockett Elementary, received a C.
Because Crockett earned less than a 70 in student achievement, academic growth and relative performance, the highest overall score TEA could award was a 69.
“While the … rating is only one measure of the work happening in WISD schools, the district is proud of this year’s progress,” the release read. “It reflects Weatherford ISD’s continued commitment to being Rooted in Excellence by maintaining high expectations, supporting continuous growth and working together to provide the best possible opportunities for every student.”
WISD will take a closer look at its performance during the September meeting of the WISD Board of Trustees, according to the release.
