The Weatherford spirit team won the Class 6A Division II state championship Jan. 16-18 at the University Interscholastic League State Spirit Championships at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
Weatherford scored a total of 89.90 points. That was enough to edge runner-up McKinney Boyd with 87.93.
It’s Weatherford’s first state championship. They have placed in the top five for six consecutive years.
In Class 5A Division I, Aledo placed eighth with 87.10 points, just 0.50 out of seventh. Fort Worth Paschal won the title with 94.40.
Also from Parker County, Brock was sixth in Class 4A Division II with 89.33 points. Hardin-Jefferson won with 93.27.
