AWARDS

Randriamahefa honored by THSCA

Senior soccer player Austin Randriamahefa of the Aledo Bearcats was named to the Super Elite Academic All-State Team by the Texas High School Coaches Association.

Student athletes chosen for the honor must be a senior, in good standing at the time of the nomination, and an elite member of their sport.

 

PC athletes named all-stars

Two baseball players from Parker County have been selected to play in this year’s Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Games at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

Jesse Rusinek of Brock was chosen for the Small School North Team (Classes 2A-4A). The game will be June 14 at noon.

The next day at 11 a.m. will be the 5A/6A game. Garrin Graves of Azle was selected for that contest.

 

TCA athletes academic all-state

Several Willow Park Trinity Christian Academy athletes were named academic all-state by TAPPS in spring sports.

Base: Caleb Hart and Patrick Gullatt.

Softball: Claire Chaffey, Ashlyn Chaffey, Emily Ickert, Christina Kuschel.

Track and field: Garrett Gough, Teegan Thomas, Ella Cockrum, Kadin James, Will Saadeh.

 

Lady Lions named all-state

Two members of the Weatherford Christian Lady Lions softball team have been TAPPS All-State. Sydney Carter was chosen for the first team and Cheridan Rowell was named to the second team.

The Lady Lions advanced to the TAPPS Class 3A state semifinals.

 

BASEBALL

Blair named AAI Coach of the Year

For the first time, Aledo Athletics, Inc. asked the public to nominate and select a Coach of the Year. Mark Blair was named the inaugural winner.

One of the nominators wrote: “Coach Blair demonstrated exceptional leadership, unwavering patience, and a positive influence on our team all season. He brought out the best in every player — not just in skill, but in character. His focus on unity, resilience, and respect made a lasting impact, both on and off the field.”

 

SOFTBALL

Aledo alum in College World Series

Former Aledo Ladycat Brenlee Gonzales is in the NCAA Division I Softball World Series this week as a pitcher with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Entering the tournament, Gonzales had posted a 2-0 record in 13 appearances for Tech. She had 12 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched with a 2.84 ERA.

 

SHOTGUN SPORTS

TCA’s Reeder inks with Tarleton

Rylie Reeder of Willow Park Trinity Christian Academy has signed a letter-of-intent to compete for Tarleton State University.

 

TCA shooters shine at regionals

Several Trinity Christian Academy shooters fared well at regional competition in Waco recently.

Ladies Intermediate Advanced level

Audrey Loeffelholz, first in skeet doubles, first in skeet, first in trap, second in trap doubles, third in sporting clays.

London Dunn, second in skeet doubles, second in trap, second in sporting clays, third in trap doubles.

Suellen Carney, third in skeet doubles.

Boys Intermediate Entry

Cameron Smith, third in skeet doubles, third in trap doubles.

Boys Junior Varsity

Eli Miller, first in skeet doubles.

Also, the Advanced Intermediate level teams finished third in skeet and trap.

 

TRACK AND FIELD

WHS athlete signs letter-of-intent

Avery Johnston of the Weatherford Lady Roos has signed a letter-of-intent with Nelson University.

 

TCA’s Gough signs

Garrett Gough of the Willow Park Trinity Christian Eagles has signed a letter-of-intent to compete in track for Hardin Simmons University. He helped the Eagles to a third-place finish at the TAPPS State Meet this season, competing on three relays and in the triple jump.

 

WRESTLING

Aledo wrestlers dominate at junior high district

Junior high wrestlers from Aledo captured top-four finishes in 11 weight classes (6 boys, 5 girls) in the recent Middle School District Tournament. They were:

Boys

80 pound weight class: Cooper Kiwior, first.

90: Jaxon Moore, third.

120: Hunter Jones, fourth.

130: Charles Anderson, first.

140: Josh Morgan, first.

180: Jaylen Yarbrough, third.

Girls

100: Avery Dyson, first.

110: Milena Prole, first.

130: Aubrey Fluitt, third.

140: Morgan Sanford, second.

180: Brianna Smith, fourth.

 

Serda new WHS girls coach

Rick Serda has been named the new Weatherford Lady Roos coach. He brings a decade of wrestling experience as an athlete — seven years competing in California and three years as a U.S. Marine.

He coached as an assistant at Azle High School and head coach at Crowley High School.
