The Weatherford High School cheerleading team was named national champions at the 2026 National Cheerleaders Association Championships at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The title follows placing second in 2023 and 2025 and third in 2024, along with winning the 2025 University Interscholastic League Class 6A state championship.
The regular season will begin in the Jag Metals Classic, hosted by Weatherford, Feb. 19-21.

The Weatherford Lady Roos continue to be one of the top soccer teams in the state of Texas. They entered this week with a 10-0-1 record and are ranked No. 10 in Class 6A.
Since the start of the 2024 season the Lady Roos are 45-4-5.
First place: James Kizewic, – 114 pound division, 625 pounds lifted; Ryan Ekberg, 165 (1,405); Preston Clark, 242 (1,560); Talan Tart, 275 (1,765); Palmer Holmes, 308 (1,225); Brenton Linehan, super heavyweight (1,705).
Second place: Case Westmoreland, 123, (635); Jonathan Griggs, 132 (805); Thomas Epps, 242 (1,335).
Third place: Enrique Vega, 123 (625); Neil Marsden, 165 (680); Aaron St. Don, 220 (1,100).
The Weatherford Lady Roos took first place at the Graham Invitational recently. They were led by (weight classes not available):

Six Kangaroos and four Lady Roos qualified for regionals from the recent District 2-6A Tournament. They are:
Boys: Kaleb Serda, second, 106 pounds; Bradley Heimlich, fourth, 113; Landen Blake, fourth, 126; Eli Garrett, third, 138; Greg Trevino, fourth, 144; Nolan Eakins, third, 157. Alternates are Case Cox, 132, and Johnny Lara, 190.
Girls: Peyton Shannon, third, 100; Kyra Billingsley, third, 135; Emersyn Burns, second, 145; and Alyssa Willis, third, 190. Addison Berrier is an alternate in 140.
The Region I Tournament is this weekend in Coppell. From there, the top four in each weight class will qualify for state at the Berry Center in Cypress Feb. 13-14.
