VOLLEYBALL

Ladycats duo named TGCA All-Stars

Junior Karsyn Evans was named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 5A Red All-Star Team. She will participate in this summer's TGCA Summer Coaches Clinic all-star competition in Arlington July 16-18.

Named a TGCA Legacy All-Star was senior Alyssa Todd.

The duo helped the Ladycats reach the Class 5A Division I state semifinals for a second consecutive season in 2025.

BASKETBALL

WC teams sweep to stay alive for postseason

In a key pair of games for their postseason hopes, both Weatherford College basketball teams defeated Southwestern Christian College recently at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center. The Lady Coyotes rolled to a 116–92 victory, while the Coyotes edged out a 62–59 win.

For the Lady Coyotes, Neso Anisiobi delivered a standout performance with 23 points and 21 rebounds. Natalia Arseniadou added 21 points, and Anja Djukic posted a double-double of her own with 12 points and 16 assists. Maiya Wesley contributed 17 points, Rileigh Hairston scored 13, and Lauryn Ebara finished with 11.

Weatherford improved to 13–10 overall and 5–7 in conference play.

On the men's side, Josiah Coleman led the Coyotes with 15 points, while Jel Malek and Andre Bennett each added 11.

The men's team improved to 13–15 overall and 5–7 in conference.

SOFTBALL

Lady Roos go 4-1 in Brock Tournament

The Weatherford Lady Roos won four of five games in the Brock Tournament this past weekend. They outscored their opponents 37-9, had a .300 team batting average and 2.49 team earned run average with 32 strikeouts.

The Lady Roos are 6-4 overall this season.

GOLF

Lady Roos win tourney

The Weatherford Lady Roos varsity came away victorious at the Diamond Oaks Centennial Invitational on Feb. 23. Sophomore Ava Cordary led the charge with a fifth-place individual finish, while junior Sailor Chen followed close behind placing seventh overall.

Kangaroos third

The Weatherford Kangaroos battled tough course conditions and strong winds at the Tour 18 Invitational and came away with a third-place team finish. Leading the way was sophomore Madden Ward, who continued his strong season with another Top 10 individual finish, placing eighth overall with an 83.

Coyotes dominate tourney

The Weatherford College men's golf team dominated the Claud Jacobs Invitational in Victoria recently, claiming the team title by 24 strokes and securing four of the top five individual finishes. The Coyotes posted a 14-under-par team score during two rounds at Victoria Country Club. 

Thirteen teams from two-year and four-year institutions competed in the event. Weatherford is ranked No. 7 in NJCAA Division I.

WC's Michael Mayer earned the individual championship at 8-under par. After opening with a 1-under first round, he surged ahead with a 7-under second round that included an eagle on the first hole and five birdies on the back nine.

Dawson Langan finished second at 2 under. Two more Coyotes closed out the top five: Youssef El Hali placed fourth and Tanaka Chatora finished fifth.

Lady Roos keep winning

Weatherford 1, Mansfield Legacy 0

Players of the Game: Defensive lineup of Camren Freas Lewis, Raleigh Boone, Emma Johnson, Mariana Diaz, Morgan Banfield, Jayden Wright and goalkeeper Quinn Kahlden. Landree Cooper scored the game-winning goal 49 seconds into the game off an assist from Stella Adams.

The Lady Roos are 14-1-2 this season and 6-1-1 in District 3-6A and are ranked 16th in the state. They are 49-5-7 since the start of the 2024 season, including 28-3-3 in district.

TENNIS

Edwards third in tourney

Weatherford's Cooper Edwards battled his way to a third-place finish in A boys singles at the Lamar Invitational on Feb. 20.

WC men sweep HSU

The No. 10 Weatherford College men's tennis team took down Hardin-Simmons University at the Streich Tennis Center on Saturday Feb. 14, winning 7-0.

In doubles action for the Coyotes, Santiago Hidalgo and Matteo Cardoso faced off against HSU's Payne Smith and Gabriel Harris, winning 6-1.

Benjamin Asker and his partner Julian Blainey won 7-5 versus Brandon Curiel and Pedro Rozani, however, Maddux Foster and Kayden Lengacher from HSU defeated Pablo Pasco and Andres Serrano 6-4.
