Brasier coming home

Weatherford College alumnus and two-time World Series champion Ryan Brasier has signed with the Texas Rangers. From pitching for the Coyotes in 2007 to winning World Series titles with the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers, his journey has been a memorable one. 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

AMS wins district

The Aledo Middle School Seventh and eighth-grade B teams each went 3-0 to win their postseason district tournament. Meanwhile, the eighth-grade A won two games to reach the finals before finishing second.

The seventh-grade A reached the semifinals, posting a 1-1 tourney record.

"We are so proud of all of the growth and hard work our Ladycats have demonstrated all season," coach Lindsey Fry said. "Aledo Middle School represented us well and we couldn't be more proud."

Eighth grade vs. Cleburne: A Team won 46-10, finished third in league, Players of the Game whole team; B Team lost 42-26, POG, Alexa Ortiz.

Seventh grade vs. Loflin: A Team lost 27-10, POG Kiara Young; B Team won 17-14, POG Pryncess Clark, Emmy Bachmann, Ellie Poston.

Lady Roos end with win

The Weatherford Lady Roos defeated Mansfield Lake Ridge on Feb. 10 to end their season. They were 20-13 overall and 2-10 in District 3-6A.

Hall eighth-grade champs

The Weatherford Hall eighth-grade team won the championship of the Lone Star District.

GIRLS SOCCER

Weatherford vs. Mansfield

Varsity: 0-0 tie, POG Addy McElhaney and Camren Freas Lewis. Lady Roos are 12-1-2 overall and 4-1-1 in District 3-6A.

JV: 1-1 tie. goal by Cyndi Cordell, POG Addy Melvin and Grayson Schweitzer.

GOLF

Ladycats JV second

The Aledo junior varsity shot 430 to place second in the Granbury Invitational at Nutcracker Golf Club recently. Taylor Jones was second individually with a 99.

JV Lady Roos win own tourney

The Weatherford junior varsity girls won the Roo Invitational at Canyon West recently. Addison Parker and Khloe Kuehler tied for first individually, with Parker winning medalist honors in a scorecard playoff.

Leighton Holt placed fourth overall. Ainsley Lange added a sixth-place finish.

The JV boys placed third, led by third-place individual medalist Tristan Mlynarik.

WC teams nationally ranked

The Weatherford College Coyotes golf team is ranked seventh nationally as the spring season is now here. The Lady Coyotes are No. 8 in the nation.

POWERLIFTING

Weatherford results from Lake Meet

Rylan Todd, second place, 114-pound weight class, 705 total pounds lifted.

Jonathan Griggs, third,132 with 885.

Clayton Fontenot, second, 148 with 1,095.

Xavier Olivares, third, 148 with 955.

Maverick Neal, second, 242 with 1,335.

Thomas Epps, third, 275 with 1,330.

WC men nationally ranked

The Weatherford College men's tennis team enters the spring season ranked No. 10 in the nation.
