Aledo’s Schull commits to Galveston
Jace “Switch” Schull of the Aledo Bearcats baseball team has committed to play for Galveston College next season. Schull helped the Bearcats as they won back-to-back Class 5A Division I state championships in 2025 and 2026.
Aledo Anglers Bait Blenders
Before the season gets rolling, the Aledo Anglers are hosting a morning of casting, conversation and catching up on Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at 153 Old Tunnel Road.

TCA to open season
Trinity Christian Academy will begin its 2026 football season on the road Aug. 21 when they visit Arlington Newman International Academy. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
TCA improved to 3-7 last season in its first year under head coach Scott Campbell, the Eagles’ best season since 2020. Newman is coming off an 0-8 season.
Weatherford downs Peaster
The Weatherford Kangaroos/Lady Roos defeated Peaster 15-4 on Aug. 14. Omar Aguilera had the match-clinching win.
Players of the match were Addy Melven and Dylan Poston.
TCA season underway
The Trinity Christian Academy volleyball season has begun. The Lady Eagles have dropped consecutive matches Aug. 11 to start the season, 25-16, 28-26 and 25-11 at home to Southwest Christian They also lost, but in thrilling fashion, 25-22, 26-24, 26-24 at Benbrook on Aug. 14.
The Lady Eagles were playing at Lake Country Christian at press time and are in the Keene Tournament this weekend.
Bruton Pebble Peach Bound
Weatherford High School senior golfer Carter Bruton has been selected to compete in the PURE Insurance Championship Impacting First Tee at the Prestigious Pebble Beach Golf Course in California Sept. 15-20.
The tournament features youths playing alongside professionals.

Stars and Strides Tournament
Stars and Strides Stables Therapeutic Riding Center will hold its annual golf tournament Sept. 17 at Canyon West Golf Course. It is the center’s largest fundraiser of the year, providing critical funding that allows them to care for therapy horses, maintain facilities, purchase specialized equipment, train instructors and offer financial assistance to families.

WC home event set
The Weatherford College rodeo team will host its second annual Lone Star Region Rodeo on Oct. 9-10 at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Arena. Competition begins at 6:30 each evening.
