Area players honored by TABC
Eleven senior players from Aledo and Weatherford have earned academic all-state honors from the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
Named to the Class 5A team from Aledo were Ladycats Brenna Clock, Mesoma Emeka-Okoye, Elizabeth Griffin, Jaylee Owens, and Carol Slough. Named to the 6A team from Weatherford were Brinlee Cooper, Gracie Hull, Kodilyn Martin King, Jada Martin, Brooklyn Mayfield, and Olivia Dean.
To qualify a player must be a senior, be in good team standing, have a GPA of 94 or above, and possess good moral character.
TCA sweeps Midland Trinity
The Willow Park Trinity Christian Academy Eagles improved to 10-6 with a sweep of visiting Midland Trinity, 12-5 and 12-7, on April 10.
In the first game, the Eagles were led by Colt Brinkman with three hits, including a double and triple, along with four runs batted in and a walk. Also, Lucas Smith had two hits with a triple, RBI and walk; Patrick Gullatt had two hits and an RBI; and Corben Baker collected a pair of hits with a double and two walks.
TCA has playing at Lake Country Christian at press time and visits Lubbock Christian April 17 and 18.
Bearcats Camp
The Aledo Bearcats Basketball Camp is set for May 26-29 at McAnally Middle School and Aledo High School. Sessions are available for players in Grades first through ninth.

Ladycats Hoops Camp
The Aledo Ladycats Basketball Camp will be June 1-4 at Aledo Middle School. The camp, for grades 1-9, will include special theme days such as Crazy Hair, Crazy Socks, Jersey Day, and Camp T-Shirt Day.

Coyotes triumphant at Bethany College Classic; Langan first in individuals
The No. 5 nationally ranked Weatherford College men’s golf team returned home this week from the Bethany College Classic with another tournament victory. Sophomore Dawson Langan placed first among individuals, while several teammates finished within the top ten.
Through 54 holes, WC finished 2-under-par to claim first place, beating No. 11 Friends University and No. 14 Iowa Western Community College. The team shot 4-under-par in round one, 6-over in round two, and 4-under in the third round.
This was the first individual win at WC for Langan, a United Kingdom native. He finished 4-under-par, shooting 3-under in the first round, 3-over in the second and 4-under in the final round.
Freshman Youssef El Hali finished third overall at 1-under-par.
Freshman Nicholas Lewis tied for fifth at 3-over-par, while sophomore Abderahmane Fakor took seventh place at 4-over.
WC’S Hanf earns NTJCAC Pitcher of the Week honors
Weatherford College sophomore pitcher Sarah Hanf has been named the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Hanf, a right-hander from Elk Grove, California, was dominant across three outings, earning a win in each appearance and allowing only four hits. The sophomore logged 11 innings of work, striking out 26 batters while allowing only four walks and two earned runs.
The standout performance is no outlier for Hanf, who ranks ninth in the country with 10.9 strikeouts per seven innings.
WCS blasts Mercy Culture Prep
The Weatherford Christian School Lady Lions improved to 5-10 and won their second straight game as they defeated Mercy Culture Prep 20-5 on April 9. Kendal Loudt pitched a no-hitter over three innings, allowing no earned runs with six strikeouts and five walks.
Avery Reed and Rylee Gunnell each had three hits. Gunnell had a double and triple, while Reed had a double. Gunnell drove in five runs and Reed had three RBI.
Tison girls win district
The Tison Lady Roos seventh-grade team won the Lonestar District 8 championship recently. They were led by the record-setting 4x200-meter relay of Skyler Richardson, Macie Wilson, Emily Banfield, and Emma Blaeser, while Ashlyn Gunter also set records in the 100 and 300 hurdles.
The eighth-grade 4x400 relay of Mattie Boone, Dayla Taylor, Avery Forester, and Helena Michno also set a school record.
Ladycats Camp
The Aledo Ladycats Volleyball Camp is scheduled for May 26-29 at DNG Gymnasiums. Sessions for players in kindergarten through ninth grade.
Cost is $150 per player.

Aledo Cornhole Tournament
The Aledo High School wrestling teams will host a Cornhole Tournament on May 23 from 3-7 p.m. at the Steve Wood Complex. The day will include food and a silent auction.
