BASEBALL

Roos’ Carlisle perfect in win

Landon Carlisle of the Weatherford Kangaroos pitched a perfect game in an 11-0 victory against North Crowley on April 2. In five innings he surrendered no hit, no walks, no hit batters, and struck out nine.

TCA’s Nash honored

Junior Hank Nash of Willow Park Trinity Christian was named the Diamond Pro Private School Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 29. He pitched 6.1 innings in a no-hit 2-1 win over Midland Classical, giving up no earned runs, striking out 16, and walking four.

In addition, he had a pair of base hits and stole a base.

Eagles Team of Week

The Willow Park Trinity Christian Eagles were named the Game Grade Private School Teaam of the Week for the week ending March 29. They started district play 3-0 and outscored their opponents 25-3 in those games.

BASKETBALL

Roos named academic all-district

Eight members of the Weatherford Kangaroos have been named to the All-District 3-6A Academic Team. They are Aidan Pool, Cole Schrantz, Rondy Dunn, Jorge Delgaldillo, Brady Mills, Dane Jensen, Karam Adel, and Cody Glaszczak.

Bearcats Camp

The Aledo Bearcats Basketball Camp is set for May 26-29 at McAnally Middle School and Aledo High School. Sessions are available for players in Grades first through ninth.

Ladycats Hoops Camp

The Aledo Ladycats Basketball Camp will be June 1-4 at Aledo Middle School. The camp, for grades 1-9, will include special theme days such as Crazy Hair, Crazy Socks, Jersey Day, and Camp T-Shirt Day.

GOLF

Lady Roos win district

The Weatherford Lady Roos shot 666 over two days at Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie. Sail Chen led with a 158 score and was fourth overall individual.

Also, Erin Caldwell shot 168 for sixth.

The 6A Region I Tournament will be April 15-16, also at Tangle Ridge.

Bruton advances to regionals again

Carter Bruton of the Weatherford Kangaroos qualified for the 6A Region I Golf Tournament for a third straight year by finishing second individually in the District 3-6A Boys Tournament. He posted a two-day score of 147 at Tangle Ridge Golf Golf Club.

The Region I Tournament is April 13-14, also at Tangle Ridge.

HONORS

Coyote student-athletes earn academic honors 

Fifty-nine Weatherford College student-athletes have been named Academic All-Conference by the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference for the 2025-26 academic year. 

Students named to the NTJCAC Academic All-Conference Team have earned a minimum of 36 hours of courses leading to a degree while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher. 

WC students named to the 2025-26 NTJCAC Academic All-Conference Team are:

Four Roos powerlifting academic all-state

Four members of the Weatherford Kangaroos have been named to Texas High School Powerlifting Association Academic All-State. All honorees are seniors.

Brenton Linehan was named to the Elite Team. First Team honors went to Preston Clark and Talan Tart.

Named to the Second Team was James Kizewic.

RODEO

Area athletes among local, state leaders

Several area athletes are among the leaders in their respective events in the North Texas High School Rodeo Association and the Texas High School Rodeo Association.

Roos duo district JV runners-up

Konnor Nickerson and Dylan Poston of Weatherford battled their way to a second-place finish in boys doubles at the JV District 3-6A Tournament on April 2. 

VOLLEYBALL

Ladycats Camp

The Aledo Ladycats Volleyball Camp is scheduled for May 26-29 at DNG Gymnasiums. Sessions for players in kindergarten through ninth grade.

Cost is $150 per player.

Aledo Cornhole Tournament

The Aledo High School wrestling teams will host a Cornhole Tournament on May 23 from 3-7 p.m. at the Steve Wood Complex. The day will include food and a silent auction.
