PCSP event once again a success

Another record year

Posted

The folks at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse wrangled themselves another successful Frontier Days Rodeo in 2026. While official attendance numbers for the week of June 9-13 have not been announced, Doug Leeper of the PCSP said, “Overall numbers were up from last year, another record year.”

Not surprising. When you’ve been doing something for nearly eight decades — this was the 79th annual rodeo — you’re apparently doing things right.

The event is the main fundraiser for the PCSP. Again, while final dollar amounts were still being tabulated, Leeper said with a smile, “We will make enough to keep the Posse going another year with new land payments and such.”

One of the new additions this year was Gold Night on June 12. It benefited children with cancer.

The Golden Circle of Champions started in California and has become a big part of the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. The Frontier Days Rodeo was the first one in Texas to host a Gold Night.

“Gold night went great. We aren’t sure yet of what was raised but we will keep this going,” Leeper said.

And despite a threat of rain, the annual cattle drive on the Saturday before the rodeo was once again a big success, Leeper noted.

Now, the work has already begun for the 80th anniversary of the PCSP Frontier Days Rodeo. The only thing Leeper will say for the moment is “We just try and make bigger and better every year.”

As for his final thoughts looking back on the 2026 event, it was simply another great success, from the cattle drive to the parade and street dance to the rodeo competition and the concerts after each night of rodeoing.

In other words, “Another great week of rodeo. It seemed to go by too fast,” Leeper said.
