The Weatherford Christian School Lions shut out Temple Christian 49-0 in their homecoming game Friday, Sept. 18, finishing the game at halftime due to the mercy-rule.
WCS was led by Alex Schoeppner who scored on all four of his rushing attempts that totaled 134 yards. Ridge Robinson was second with 42 yards and one touchdown.
Jack Muhlenkamp completed seven passes for 115 yards and one touchdown, and on defense he intercepted three passes, returning one for a touchdown. Noah Carreon led the team with two catches for 41 yards, and Cutter Yates caught one pass for 34 yards for one touchdown.
Weatherford Christian coach Colt Jones said he was proud of his team’s one-sided win.
“This was a great morale-booster for our program,” Jones said. “Before the game, I told the guys to go out, have fun, and play with joy, and that’s exactly what they did. When you play loose and enjoy each other, good things happen. I’m proud of how they showed up on homecoming night.
The Lions are now 2-2 and are scheduled to play Granbury Grace Classical at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at home.
