The Weatherford Lady Roos blew out North Crowley 14-1 on April 7 on the road to get back on track.

Weatherford was coming off its own big loss, losing 10-0 against Mansfield Legacy before getting the rest of last week off before this week’s game.

Still fighting for a playoff spot, the Lady Roos needed a pick-me-up and got one with how they played North Crowley.

Weatherford got on the board first with an RBI double from Cassara Perdue to go up 1-0.

The second inning saw Jada Martin hit into an RBI fielder’s choice out. Joey Fross followed with a two RBI triple as the Lady Roos led 4-0.

Still in the second inning, the Lady Panthers showed some life. With a runner on fist, Weatherford tried to throw the runner out, but an error on the throw allowed the runner to come all the way home to cut the lead to 4-1.

After a scoreless third and fourth inning, the Lady Roos got on the board again in the fifth. Perdue hit a pop fly to second base, but an error allowed one run to come in and score to make it 5-1.

Things really got rolling for Weatherford in the sixth inning. Martin hit an RBI single. A couple of batters later Mia Coleman drove in two runs with a triple. Perdue and Chappell followed with an RBI single and RBI double as Weatherford led 10-1.

In the final inning, the Lady Roos kept things rolling offensively. Cheridan Rowell hit an RBI single. Later with the bases loaded, Abigail Narez drove in one run on a fielder’s choice. Next batter Coleman then drove in two more runs with a triple to make the final score 14-1.

Coleman led the team with four RBIs as she hit two triples. Martin, Fross and Perdue each drove in two runs apiece. The team finished with 18 hits, with eight being extra base hits.

On the mound, Kendall Jones pitched all seven innings and allowed one run, zero earned runs, on two hits while striking out 14 and walking two. The defense behind her committed three fielding errors.

The win improves the Lady Roos district record to 6-3 with three games left. Weatherford is next scheduled to play at 7 p.m. on April 10 at home against a Lake Ridge team it lost to the first time around. The Lady Roos are then scheduled to play at 7 p.m. on April 14 at home against a Boswell team it also lost to in the first round.
