Four Roos post top-five finishes, team third at state

Weatherford lifters in the Class 6A Division I Boys State Powerlifting Meet in Abilene are Talan Tart, Ryan Ekberg, Brenton Linehan and Preston Clark. All four placed in the top five of their weight class and the Kangaroos were third as a team.

As a team, the Kangaroos placed third with 13 points. Dickinson won with 20 and Conroe Grand Oak was second with 18.

Talan Tart led the Kangaroos with a second-place finish in the 275-pound weight class. He lifted a total of 1,755 pounds, which broke down into a squat lift of 675, a bench press of 505, and a deadlift of 575.

Ryan Ekberg and Brenton Linehan each placed third in their division. Ekberg lifted 1,535 pounds (550 squat, 410 bench, 575 deadlift) in the 165 class and Linehan lifted 1,725 (750 squat, 425 bench, 550 deadlift) in the super heavyweight category.

Preston Clark captured fourth in the 242 division. He lifted a total of 1,625 pounds (600 squat, 500 bench, 525 deadlift).
