Herstle Renfroe has dedicated more than a decade serving others as a first-responder, according to Sacred Cross EMS.
And that’s what the Sacred Cross EMT was doing when a house fire claimed the lives of his wife and two children Monday night, Aug. 17.
A fund has been set up to assist Renfroe, who is also a volunteer firefighter with the Palo Pinto Volunteer Fire Department. To donate, go to https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/mwan-benevolent-fire-fund-for-first-responders.
The fire on Lake Country Drive was called into Parker County Emergency Services District 6 about 9:50 p.m. Monday, according to a press release issued by ESD-6. Upon arrival firefighters found the fire to be “fully involved." Firefighters initiated an offensive fire attack, working to control the fire and gain access to the structure.
Once firefighters were able to conduct an interior search they found all three victims, already deceased, according to the release.
Cresson Volunteer Fire Department and North Hood County Volunteer Fire Department also provided aid.
The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation by the Parker County Fire Mashal’s Office.
