Fairways For Families Golf Tournament

Support through fundraising

Posted

The sixth annual Gathering Hope Fairways for Families Golf Tournament is Friday, June 12, at the Oeste Ranch Golf Course. The event's purpose is to fundraise for Gathering Hope’s mission of “supporting survivors of miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss.”

The day will include an 18-hole tournament, a Clink to Drink game on the putting green, a lunch reception, and an awards and raffle drawing.

“This tournament is so special because there's a dynamic that is really hard to explain unless you've been through it, but grief and joy can coexist, so… this day is really about the [camaraderie]. It is really about the community,” said Peyton Lauderdale, co-founder of Gathering Hope. There are “over 100 golfers coming together to have some fun and to support this mission.”

“Most of our programming is focused towards lost moms, but this is the event that we dedicate to lost dads, and granddads,” said Lauderdale. “That grief may look different for men, but it doesn't mean that they're not grieving.”

“And this is just one way that we can honor them and remember them, too,” she said.

The fundraising goal is between $40,000 and $45,000, “and we are getting really close to it, walking into the tournament,” said Lauderdale.

Gathering Hope uses fundraising to support grieving families through its programming, like the Beyond Words Workshop, which equips healthcare and ministry professionals to support bereaved families, the Timely Tender Tote, a care package and outreach program, and the Wave of Light service, a remembrance ceremony.

Through fundraisers like the golf tournament the mission of Gathering Hope is able to continue and provide support to survivors.
