Posted

Both Weatherford College basketball teams bounced back in a big way on the night of Jan. 14, sweeping Hill College at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center to secure their first conference victories of the season.

The Lady Coyotes (9-5 overall, 1-2 conference) held the lead through the first half of the game, with a 41-35 advantage at halftime. Despite the Lady Rebels scoring 28 points in the fourth, WC kept them at bay and won the night 80-76.

Neso Anisiobi was the point leader for WC, racking up a massive double-double with 29 points and 16 rebounds. Rileigh Hairston also came up big with her own double-double at 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The WC men’s basketball team dominated from start to finish. Leading by 13 at the half, the Coyotes ended the night with an 82-54 win. The victory moves the men’s team to 9-10 overall and a 1-2 record in conference play.

Andre Bennett and Josiah Coleman each scored 12 points for the Coyotes, while Kenji Franklin and Daunte Smith followed close behind with 10 each.

Both the men’s and women’s teams travelled to face Southwestern Christian College on Jan. 17. For more information, visit wcathletics.com
