Coder Elementary named Lone Star Ribbon School

Posted

Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Education Agency named Coder Elementary a Lone Star Ribbon School, the only school in Region 11 and one of only 25 campuses throughout the state to earn the honor for outstanding academic performance.

Coder was specifically recognized in the Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing category for the school’s success in reducing performance gaps between underserved student groups and statewide student performance over time.

Recognized Lone Star Ribbon Schools achieve at the highest levels in reading and math, excel across student groups, and demonstrate measurable improvement in achievement gaps. The Lone Star Ribbon School program, in its second year, replaces the National Blue Ribbon Schools program.

“Earning this recognition is a direct reflection and result of the hard work, commitment to student growth and achievement, and high levels of learning happening at Coder Elementary,” Principal Gina Henze said. “As a campus, our staff and students together worked hard to close achievement gaps for the 2024-2025 school year, earning an ‘A’ rating at that time and then maintaining that ‘A’ rating again this year.

“I am so incredibly proud of our staff, students, and community for this outstanding achievement,” she said.

Schools were selected for the Lone Star Ribbon Schools Program through a rigorous quantitative analysis of 2024-2025 state assessment data that identifies campuses demonstrating high standards for academic performance, including earning an overall ‘A’ rating, maintaining strong ratings across accountability domains, and demonstrating consistent student success on state assessments. Schools must also meet requirements related to campus stability, enrollment, accountability, safety, testing integrity, civil rights compliance, and special education compliance.

“We ask our teachers and staff to be ‘all in’ and ensure high levels of learning for all students, and we are thrilled that this state recognition validates that this is happening at extremely high levels at Coder Elementary,” Aledo ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Bohn said. “Thank you to our Coder staff and leadership for their dedication and commitment to our Bearcats, and thank you to all our Coder parents who rally around our staff and students in support of the incredible learning happening at this incredible community public school.”
