The Weatherford College Board of Trustees approved a $117 million budget and a property tax rate of 11.4716 cents for the 2026-27 fiscal year at a special meeting Thursday.
The meeting included a public hearing on the proposed tax rate in which no one spoke.
While this is an increase over last year’s rate of 10.6087 cents per $100 valuation, WC’s rate is 28.5% below the state average and ranks as the 19th lowest among the state’s 50 community college districts.
The tax rate will generate about $29.5 million in revenue for the college’s budget. Additional funding for the college comes from state appropriations as well as student tuition and fees.
Tuition and fees at all state colleges and universities are frozen per a mandate from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
