Huffmans commit to A&M-Texarkana
Aledo seniors Brady and Reid Huffman have committed to play for Texas A&M Texarkana following graduation from AHS in 2026. Brady is an outfielder/pitcher and Reid is a catcher.
The duo helped the Bearcats win the Class 5A Division I state championship this past spring.
Aledo Middle School season recap
Across all teams, AMS posted a 36-5-2 record, scored more than 1,100 points, and gave up 142. They had 28 shutouts defensively as a program, with C teams playing other B teams.
They averaged 30.15 points per game while only allowing an average of 3.64.

TCA rolls to third win
Willow Park Trinity Christian had no trouble in disposing of Lewisville Classical Founders Academy 70-14 on Oct. 31 in a non-district game. The Eagles improved to 3-6 overall and are 0-3 in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District 1 Division III.
TCA led 28-0 after the first quarter and 49-0 at the half.
WCS JV finishes undefeated
The Weatherford Christian School junior varsity Lions wrapped up an undefeated season by defeating Nazarene 40-34 on the road on Oct. 30.
Weatherford JV vs. Boswell
JV White won 46-8. Offensive Player of the Game: Braelynn Jones. Defensive Player of the Game: Derek Sinning.
JV Blue won 34-14. Players of the Game: Haidyn Olson, Eben Townsel, Rene Velasquez, Ayden Simpson, and Jonathan Griggs.
Weatherford Tison vs. Cleburne Wheat
Seventh grade: A team won 26-0. Third in the Lone Star District 8.
Weatherford Hall vs. Cleburne
Eighth grade: A team won 28-0. Undefeated Lone Star District 8 champions, finished seventh and eighth years a combined 15-0. B team won 21-8, 8-0 Lone Star District 8 champions.
Ladycats JV wins at Burleson, Bearcats JV third
The Aledo junior varsity Ladycats won a tournament at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Burleson on Oct. 29, shooting a team score of 404. The Bearcats were third among the boys with a 377.
Leading the Ladycats was Charlotte Roland, who was 17th individually with an 89. For the boys, Cain Goggans also shot 89 for 17th.
Also for the Ladycats, Taylor Jones and Addison Younkin each shot 102 and Lilly Castillo posted a 111. Also for the Bearcats, Max Mathis shot 92, Collier Morgan had a 95, and Bentley Beverlin came in with a 101.
WC to host Region V Tournament
Weatherford College will host the NJCAA Region V Volleyball Tournament Nov. 6-8 at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.
Eight qualifying teams from across Texas and New Mexico will compete in the single-elimination tournament. The tournament’s champion and runner-up will earn automatic berths in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament, to be held in Clarksville, Tennessee, Nov. 19-22.
Weatherford earned the right to host the tournament due to winning the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) title last season.
WC is the highest-ranked squad in the tournament, according to the NJCAA Division I poll. The No. 2 Coyotes are 29-2 overall.
Other nationally-ranked squads that have qualified for the tournament are No. 8 Odessa College, No. 11 Frank Phillips College, and No. 12 New Mexico Military Institute.
The tournament will include the top four teams from the NTJCAC and the top four from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference.
WC clinched a top seed due to winning its fourth straight conference title. Tournament passes are available at weatherfordcollege.simpletix.com. Discounted passes are available for senior citizens and students, and WC employees and students receive free admission.
Aledo intra-squad Saturday
The Aledo Bearcats and Ladycats will hold their preseason intra-squad meet on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 3:30 p.m. at the Aledo High School Main Gym.
After the dual, everyone is invited to head over to Jake’s and hang out in the yard area to visit and celebrate the start of the season. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Note: There will not be concessions available during the event.
A team snack drive is also underway to help fuel wrestlers. Shelf-stable snacks and drinks are welcome. If you’d like to help, please consider bringing any of the following items to the wrestle-off or send with your wrestlers to the Steve Woods Complex before the dual.
